Wickham, Francis, 1770-1797.
Francis Wickham was born in 1770, the son of James Wickham and Mary Whalley, of Frome, Somerset, England. By 1796, he was a lieutenant in the British Royal Navy; he began service in Martinique in June of that year, shortly after the British capture of the island from the French in March 1794. According to an annotation on the back of the journal by an unnamed brother, Wickham died in 1797.
