Gerald Brooks Hunt Solomon was born in Okeechobee, Florida on August 14, 1930. He attended public schools in Delmar, New York. He attended Siena College from 1949-1950 and St. Lawrence University from 1953-1954. Solomon served in the Marine Corps in Korea from 1951-1952. He went into business in Glens Falls, was first elected to public office in 1967 as a Town Supervisor in Queensbury, later as a member of the Warren County Board of Supervisors, and in 1972 as a member of the New York State Assembly. In 1978 he was elected to the United States House of Representatives, where he served ten terms representing the 22nd Congressional District in New York State, retiring in 1998. He died on October 26, 2001.
