Justin Armintrout was born in 1975 and graduated from Monte Vista High School in Watsonville, California in 1994. He received a B.A. in Communication Studies with an emphasis in organizational communications from The University of Montana-Missoula.

In addition to co-founding the first gay and lesbian newspaper in Montana, Armintrout worked with the Human Rights Campaign and the Western Montana Gay and Lesbian Community Center. He was a member of the Missoula Organization of Home Realtors and a volunteer member of the Missoula City-County Health Department’s HIV Advisory Committee and Montana Gay Men’s Task Force for HIV/AIDS. He ran for the Missoula City Council in 2007.
