Charles Stetson was born in New Ipswich, Hillsborough County, N.H., November 2, 1801 and moved with his parents to Hampden, Penobscot County, Maine, in 1802. He attended Hampden Academy and was graduated from Yale College in 1823. He was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Hampden in 1826. He was admitted to the bar of the United States Supreme Court in 1828. He moved to Bangor, Maine, in 1833 and was judge of the Bangor Municipal Court 1834-1839, member of the common council of Bangor in 1843 and 1844, and member of the State executive council 1845-1848. He was elected as a Democrat to the Thirty-first Congress of the U.S. (March 4, 1849-March 3, 1851) and was an unsuccessful candidate for renomination in 1850 to the Thirty-second Congress. He resumed his law practice in Bangor and died there in 1883.
Jabez True was the Penobscot County Sheriff and resided in Bangor, Maine.
