Biff are artist Chris Garratt and writer Mick Kidd, who met at school in the 1950s. They have produced Biff since the mid 1970s, with Chris creating the artwork, and Mick devising the characters and text. Biff cartoons originated with the self published Interplanetary News in 1976 (print run 200), Biff Quarterly nos 1 and 2 (1979 and 1980) and as postcards and badges, sold from a stall in Camden Lock market (1980-1992) and various bookshops. Biff strips appeared in International Times (1976-1980), City Limits (1983-1988) and appeared in the Guardian from 1985 to 2005.
