Skagit Coal and Transportation Company.

Hide Profile

Incorporated in 1888 under the laws of Washington Territory, the company purposed to acquire, develop, and sell timber and coal lands, to mine and sell coal, to manufacture and sell coke, and to sell timber and timber products. Utilizing initial funds advanced by the Fairhaven Land Company, the corporation bought and worked land in Skagit County, Washington until 1900. In 1899, GN acquired controlling stock in the company, and in January 1900, the directors and stockholders accepted an offer from the newly formed Skagit Coal and Coke Company (St. Paul, Minnesota) for the purchase of the Skagit properties. The company's disincorporation was completed late in 1900.
