Henry Benjamin Holmes, Jr. (b. Aug. 8, 1892, East Lexington, Virginia-d. Dec. 19, 1976), Brigadier General in the U.S. Army, graduated from the Virginia Military Institute, was commissioned in the Coast Artillery Corps in 1916, and served in Hawaii (1919-1922). He graduated from the Command and General Staff School in 1930, followed by duty with the 59th Coast Artillery in the Philippines until 1933. He became commanding general of the 46th Coast Artillery Brigade, then chief of staff of the Hawaiian Department. He retired in August 1947.
