Daniel McFarland was born in Washington County, Pa. in 1787. He enlisted as a captain in the 22nd U.S. Infantry in 1812, prior to the declaration of war. He was transferred to the 23rd U.S. Infantry and promoted to Major. He was killed at the Battle of Lundy's Lane on July 25, 1814.
