Francis Dawe Wickham arrived in Van Diemen's Land in September 1830 and practised as a barrister in Launceston until 1838 when he left the colony.

Francis Dawe Wickham first settled in Van Diemen's Land. He sailed for Melbourne in December 1839 and purchased an allotment facing La Trobe Street. In 1853 Francis Wickham, his wife (Lucy?) and family were rescued from the "Condor", when it was destroyed by fire. According to her passport, Mrs Natalie Wickham was travelling on the Continent in 1858, accompanied by her daughter. Her relationship to Francis Dawe Wickham is not clear.
