Carswell, Porter, 1904-
Porter Carswell was a prominent Burke County citizen, Rotarian, and Methodist layman. He was the first Georgia Republican to run for Congress (in 1966) since Reconstruction. His plantation, Bellevue, has been owned by his family since 1839.
