Representative from Spartanburg, 1870-1871; graduate, 1856, of South Carolina College; educator at Limestone Female Academy, and, after Civil War, founder of schools in various states: Limestone Male Academy at Limestone Springs, S.C.; Aiken or Aikin Institute and Lyle Female Institute at Paris, Tex.; and a school at Caddo, Okla.
