Biographical note: Robert Lee McClure was a native of Graves County, Kentucky, but resided for the last forty years of his life in Lexington. He was co-owner of the Baxter and McClure News Service, and later owner of a commercial photographic studio. He is credited with having been the first Lexingtonian to take "action" photographs and was well known locally for his photographs of sporting events, famous horses, and scenes of historic and political interest.
