Poetry Society of Virginia
Founded in 1923 at the College of William and Mary by Dr. Feidelson, the Poetry Society of Virginia's first members were from the Tidewater area, although Richmonders soon played a vital role within the organization. The purpose of the organization is to encourage the composition, study and general appreciation of poetry. The Society continues to sponsor poetry readings and annual writing competitions.
