Tiemann, Philip W.

Philip W. Tiemann was born in New Jersey in 1900 and moved to Cavendish, Vermont with his wife, son and two daughters in 1933. At that time, the family's possessions consisted of little more than some furnishings and a used car, which the Tiemanns had recently purchased. After deciding to move to Vermont from suburban New Jersey, the family bought a farm in Cavendish, which they called "Windy Hill." Philip Tiemann served with the 10th Armored Division and also as an Inspector General with the 43rd Army in New Guinea in World War II. He was married to Isabel Carr (1901-1959) and the couple had three children, Wyeth, Ann, and Joyce. Philip W. Tiemann died in Vermont in 1969.
