Resident of Florence, S.C.; son of Robert Woodward Barnwell (1831-1863); graduate, 1882, the University of the South, Sewanee, Tenn.; ordained an Episcopal priest, 1884; retired, 1911, and devoted himself to writing; published books of verse and numerous articles on Civil War military history; died 1952.
