Auchampaugh, Philip G., 1897-1949
Variant namesPhilip G. Auchampaugh joined the University of Nevada history faculty in 1941, and was considered an authority on the era of President James Buchanan. A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., he graduated from New York College for Teachers in 1920, and received his advanced degrees from Syracuse Universityy in 1921, and Clark University in 1924. The collection includes personal correspondence and publications, but also his collection of historical pamphlets and autographs reflecting his interest in James Buchanan and the period preceding and following the Civil War.
