Philip Columbus Croll was an author and Lutheran clergyman. Born near Kutztown, Pennsylvania, and educated at Gettysburg College, he was ordained in 1879, and acted as pastor of several congregations in Eastern Pennsylvania and Illinois. He wrote numerous books on religious topics and regional history, translated several works, and published hundreds of articles and poems in various periodicals. He was founder and editor of Pennsylvania German Magazine.
