Biography

Danzō Kiyohara was born ca. 1881. A native of Kumamoto Prefecture he arrived in the United States in 1894. He attended the University of California. A businessman in Southern California, he was active in various business ventures including oil drilling in Texas and Southern California. He was a member of many Japanese American organizations in Southern California prior to World War II and served as secretary and treasurer of the Japanese American League of Los Angeles (JAL) (ca. 1915-17), as well as secretary and treasurer of the Japanese American Fraternity of Los Angeles (ca. 1913-14). He was also known as George D. Kiyohara; he died ca. 1964.
