Physician, historian, and genealogist of Charleston, S.C.; in 1898, Johnson married Lottie Palmer Capers (1871-1960); he worked as an orthopedic surgeon and professor of orthopedics at the Medical College of South Carolina. Considered an authority on the history of the S.C. Lowcountry, Johnson possessed a large collection of research materials (papers, manuscripts, photographs, and other historical data) pertaining to the region. At the time of his death he was researching the genealogies of various S.C. families for a book.

William Henry Johnson (1871-1934), who married Lottie Palmer Capers (1871-1960) in 1898, was an orthopedic surgeon and professor of orthopedics at the Medical College of South Carolina.
