John Spencer-Stanhope, 1787-1873, of Cannon Hall, Barnsley and Horsforth Hall, was the son of Walter Spencer-Stanhope and his wife, Mary Winifred, daughter of Thomas Babington Pulleine. In 1822, he married Lady Elizabeth Wilhelmina Coke, daughter of the Earl of Leicester. For a number of years he acted as a Justice of the Peace in Horsforth
