The Ruth Realty Company was incorported (Oregon) by a railway syndicate in 1908 as the Ruth Trust Company (its name was changed in 1913) for the purpose of handling townsites and other real property along the lines of the United Railways Company. It was acquired by the Spokane, Portland and Seattle Railway in 1909. In 1924 it purchased thousands of acres of standing timber in Columbia, Tillamook, and Clatsop counties, which was logged off and eventually sold to the Oregon-American Lumber Corporation. The SP&S took over all of its operations in 1944.
