Variant namesSean Cassedy was born and reared in Bagdad, Kentucky, and enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2001. Sean Cassedy served in the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force during the first days of Operation Iraqi Freedom and participated in the initial invasion. Sean was wounded in the leg on April 4, 2003 outside of Baghdad. He returned to Shelbyville, Kentucky on April 23, 2003 to a hero's welcome.
