Monkton, John, 1755-1826.
John Monkton was born in the county of Somersetshire, England, in 1755 and began a career in the Royal Navy in 1766, serving in the Caribbean Area, the Orkney and Shetland Islands off Scotland, Newfoundland, Gibraltar, Portsmouth, and the Napoleonic Wars.
