Family of Mason J. Metcalf who was a mill owner in Monmouth, Me., ca. 1830-1883 and maker of dies for cutting letters in brass stencils in both Monmouth and Boston, Mass.; also operated a farm in Monmouth, interested in meteorology, and a founding member of the Monmouth Congregational Church.
