Billingsley, Franny, 1954-....
Variant namesFranny Billingsley was born on July 3, 1954. She earned her B.A. from Tufts University (1976) and her J.D. from the Boston University Law School (1979) After working as a lawyer for five years, she became a book buyer for 57th Street Books in Chicago. Since 1999 she has been a writer and speaker.
Franny Billingsley has four published titles for children and young adults: Well Wished (1997), The Folk Keeper (1999), Big Bad Bunny (2008), and Chime (2011). Awards include the Anne Spencer Lindbergh Prize Honor Book for best fantasy written in the English language (1998) for Well Wished ; Boston Globe -Horn Book Award for Fiction (2000) and Mythopoeic Fantasy Award for Children's Literature (2000) for The Folk Keeper ; National Book Award for Young People's Literature finalist (2011) for Chime .
