Gladys Worthington (ca. 1911-1982), born Gladys Guinaw, was an active social worker in the San Francisco Bay Area. She played a leading role in housing for senior citizens, particularly in Alameda County where she helped to establish Satellite Senior Homes, Inc. During World War II she was active with the American Red Cross both at home in San Francisco and abroad in Western Europe, particularly France. She took on leadership and/or consulting roles for the many organizations she was involved with, including the Bay Area Social Planning Council; Council of Social Planning, Alameda County; Volunteer Bureau of Alameda County; City of Oakland; Alameda County; the Salvation Army; United Bay Area Crusade; United Way of the Bay Area; San Francisco Bay area Roman Catholic Dioceses; and others. She was a recipient of the Medaille d'Honneur from the Croix Rouge Française during World War II and was awarded the Daniel Koshland, Jr. Award in 1968 for her contributions to social work in the San Francisco Bay Area.
