Lockett was a prominent Georgetown, Texas, businessman who operated a general merchandise store and was active in community affairs. Born in Ohio in 1846, Lockett's family moved to Arkansas where he enlisted in the Confederacy at age 15. He eventually settled in central Texas where he attended McKenzie College. He died in Georgetown in 1936.
