The Cultured Pearls Interest Group of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. formed in October 1991 with the purpose of chartering a graduate/alumni chapter of the black female sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha, in the Stone Mountain - Lithonia, Georgia area. Their mission is to serve the community by implementing the International Programs of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., as stated in their goals. These targets include the importance of education, health care, and strengthening the black family. The organization conducts meetings once a month, except in June and July. Sorors are either elected to offices or placed among several committees.
