Callen Family.
James Callen, recipient of most of these letters, lived in the West Manchester neighborhood of Allegheny, Pa. David Callen and Joseph Moreland served as sergeants and John Irwin as a private in the Pennsylvania 4th Calvary, 64th Regiment of the Pennsylvania Volunteers. These men, along with Samuel Moore, appear to have been close friends in Allegheny, Pa.
