Archer, S. John.

Hide Profile

S. John Archer is a great-great grandson of Ezekiel Archer (1807-1890) who emigrated from Ireland to Canada in 1847. With his wife Ezekiel had five children: Jonah, William, Joseph, Ezekiel, Jr., and Margaret. Between 1860 and 1871 at least some members of the family moved back and forth between Canada and Michigan, possibly to avoid fighting in the Civil War. In 1910 they farmed near Rosebush and later moved to Mount Pleasant. Jonah had six children, one of whom, Albert J., graduated from Central Michigan Normal School, now Central Michigan University (CMU), in 1910. Two of his siblings, Lansing Jonah and Lavina "Pearl" also taught school. It is likely that they also graduated from CMU. Other extended family members attended Rosebush schools and moved to Lansing. In 2011 S. John Archer lived in Calif.
