Workman (Harvard, M.D. 1825) was born in Colerain, Mass., received his preparatory education at Hopkins Academy in Hadley, Mass., and studied medicine at Harvard and with Dr. Seth Washburn of Greenfield and Drs. Flint and Mather of Northampton. He practiced in Shrewsbury from 1825 to 1835, then moved to Worcester, where he was also active in the Worcester District Medical Society and in various civic affairs. He retired from practice in 1869, but served as trustee of the Worcester Lunatic Hospital from 1862 to 1872.
