Avery, Mattie C., 1873-1962.
Mattie Avery graduated from Oregon Agricultural College (OAC) in 1892. The granddaughter of Corvallis pioneer, Joseph C. Avery, Mattie was born in Paisley, Oregon, in 1873 and apparently attended St. Mary's Academy in Portland before enrolling at OAC. Avery married John Fulton in 1897 and lived in Corvallis until her death in 1962 while visiting in California. John Fulton, also an 1892 graduate of OAC, was a professor of chemistry at Oregon State from 1892 until his retirement in 1940. Fulton was an avid photographer and the OSU Archives photographic collections include many images attributed to him. It is not known if he made any of the photographs in this album.
