Baptist minister, born in Marion Ill. and pastored in Carbondale and Springfield, Ill., worked for the executive committee of the Southern Baptist Convention, edited the Illinois Baptist for seventeen years until 1984 and authored A Nickel's Worth of Skim Milk, A Penny's Worth of Minced Ham and the Tinyburg Tales.
