David Frederick Wallace was born on October 17, 1934 in Independence, Missouri, son of Fred and Christine Wallace. His father, Fred, was Bess Truman's youngest brother. David lived in the Wallace home at 219 N. Delaware from 1934 to 1942. From 1952 to 1956, he attended the University of New Mexico as a Political Science major, and from 1959 to 1970 he operated a public relations firm in New York City. On October 10, 1970, he married Linda Carol Rees. From about 1970 to 1978, Wallace operated a public relations and advertising firm in Los Angeles, California, and about 1977 his son Christopher Wallace was born. In 1978, he became a free-lance journalist in Los Angeles.
