Tammany Society, or Columbian Order (Chillicothe, Ohio)
The Tammany Society, a secret political society, was organized in New York City in 1789 to counteract the combied influence of the Federalists and the Society of Cincinnati. The first wigwam, or branch, in Ohio was established in Chillicothe in 1810.
