Brown, Charles H. (Charles Hopkins)
Variant namesCharles Hopkins Brown (1913-1975), a journalist, graduated from Dartmouth in 1935 before going on a world tour in 1935-1936 and doing occasional free-lance writing while traveling. In 1938 he was a free-lance writer in Palestine before working as a reporter for the Pittsburgh "Post-Gazette" from 1940-1942. Brown served in the U.S. Army from 1942-1945 in North Africa, Sicily, France and Germany. He was a foreign editor and bureau chief in Germany and Israel for "Newsweek" magazine and editor and writer for the "New York Times Magazine" from 1955-1965 before serving as a vice-president of public relations for International Executive Service Corps, a firm specializing in managerial consulting.
