Hide Profile

The Military Records Division of the Department of Archives and History was informally established in the late 1920s or early 1930s. Peter Brannon was the head of the division until 1955. The division was responsible for collecting and providing access to records and manuscripts that pertained to the state and its citizens' participation in militia units and military conflicts from the Revolutionary War to the Vietnam War. The Division was dismantled in 1983 and its functions were transferred to the Archives and Records Division and the Library/Reference Division.
