Pringle, James Reid, 1782-1840.

Charleston, S.C. politician, plantation owner, and U.S. Customs collector for the port of Charleston (1819-1840). He served in both the Senate and the House of Representatives of South Carolina, and owned plantations in St. Helena Parish and Prince William Parish. He was the son of Robert Pringle (1755-1811) and Mary Reid (1766-1784). In 1807 Pringle married Elizabeth Mary McPherson, daughter of John McPherson and Susannah Miles.
