San Benito Mineral Springs (Tres Pinos, Calif.)

San Benito Mineral Springs was a resort located south of Hollister, Calif. It was located at terminus of a Southern Pacific Railroad line that was initially (1870s) intended to connect San Jose with Central Valley. Land was owned by E.J. and Alexander F. Anderson, members of a wealthy pioneer San Benito family renowned for their "A" brand pears. Collection consists of materials extolling curative virtues of spring's water (1920). Isolated resort was never a financial success.
