Hendricks was a miner and state government official who came to Calif. from Indiana in 1849. He settled in Butte County, where he organinzed the Oregon Gulch Mining Company with his younger brother, Thomas P. In the late 1870s, they established the Morris Ravine Mining Company. Hendricks also played an active role in the incorporation and political organization of Chico, Calif.
