William Fisher, a graduate of Dickinson College, class of 1870, also attended the University of Heidelburg.

From 1874-76 he taught modern language at Dickinson College. He was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in 1876. He married Mary A.E. Weiger in 1876. Mrs Fisher wrote children's stories and travel articles.
