McInerney, Francis X. (Francis Xavier), 1899-1956
Francis Xavier McInerney was born March 28, 1899, in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He received his commission as Ensign in the U.S. Navy in 1920, and was admitted to the bar in Washington, D.C., in 1935. He advanced to the rank of rear admiral in 1947. He commanded the Battleship Washington from 1945 to 1946. McInerney died on June 24, 1956.
