Irma Cunha earned her AB at Stanford University in 1944 and her MA in 1946. During her senior year as editor of the student newspaper, she often had contact with Stanford's president, Donald B. Tresidder. When she returned to pursue her MA, the Tresidders offered her the opportunity of living in their campus home.
