Davis, Alfred Ward Grayson, 1806-1865.
A.W.G. Davis served as Confederate Post Quatermaster at Greenville, S.C., during the Civil War; cousin and roommate of Jefferson Davis upon his enrollment in 1824 at the United States Military Academy (West Point, N.Y.); later studied law; native of Vanceburg, Kentucky, but lived in various regions during the antebellum era, including locations within present states of Arkansas, Mississippi, West Virginia, and Texas; father of Charles Lewis Davis.
C.L. Davis (1840-1907) was a graduate of the University of Virginia and a medical doctor who had served as a captain in the Stonewall Brigade but was impaired from further duty in the field; succeeded his father, A.W.G. Davis, as Post Quarter Master at Greenville, S.C.
