Jack Edward Holloway (b. Topeka, KS Jan 28, 1923; d. Las Vegas, NV Nov 16, 1984). American composer, teacher, geophsyical surveyor, television transmitter engineer, and silver mine company manager. Holloway reportedly started composing at the age of 6 and had completed two symphonies by the age of 14. His principle composition teachers were Darius Milhaud and Roger Sessions. He earned a B.A. degree from The University of California at Berkeley in 1951. He was an active member of the Composers Forum, the Northern California Chapter of I.S.C.M. from 1951-58. From 1960 to 1979, he pursued other careers, returning to composing in 1980. His honors include the Merril Ingram Award for his composition Sonor, and a Fromm Foundation Award for his Mystic Trumpeter. He was also a Fulbright Scholar from 1958-59.
