Young, Almon P.

Professor Almon P. Young joined the faculty at the Michigan College of Mining and Technology (now Michigan Technological University) in Houghton, Michigan in 1930 as an assistant professor of Mechanical Engineering, promoted in 1936 to Associate Professor and in 1948 to promoted to Professor. He was appointed the acting head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering in 1948 and was appointed as Department Head in 1950, serving until his retirement in 1963.

Prior to his time in Michigan, he served a six-year period as manager of the Nadiad Industrial Institute of Nadiad, India. In 1918 he served in the U.S. Army and subsequently did engineering work for the General Electric Company. Later he worked for the Ross Gear and Tool Company. Professor Young held a B.S. and M.S. from Purdue University.
