Democrat "Buck" Oliver represented Alabama's Sixth Congressional District from 1914 until 1936. From 1890, he practiced law in Tuscaloosa, Ala., and from 1909 until 1913 he served as dean of the University of Alabama's Lw School. From 1939 to 1944 he was special assistant to the Attorney-General of the United States, then retired to manage his Alabama property until his 1948 death.
