Joseph Love, Inc. was one of the largest manufacturers of young girl's clothing in the world. Founder Joseph Love (1891-1971) started his career as an office boy and salesman at the garment manufacturing firm Stein Moss & Co. After serving in the Army during World War I, he started his own childrenswear manufacturing firm and served as board chairman from 1920 to 1971. Love was active in veterans' organizations and the Democratic Party, and served on the War Production Board during World War II. The company was known for its fine details" smocking, appliques, pockets shape like sailboats or spring flowers along with cheerful prints and plaids.
