The collection contains letters received by Willard Fisher from various friends and relatives. Willard was a Mormon born February 18, 1801 in Wrenthem, Massachusetts. He lived in Nauvoo during the height of the Mormon occupation. He eventually disassociated himself from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and moved to Wisconsin where he became a prominent citizen. Among the letters in the collection are those from Willard's brothers, Edmund and Rufus. Both were born in Massachusetts. Edmund on July 7, 1803 and Rufus on December 11, 1804. Both Men were active in the LDS Church. While Rufus and his family eventually emigrated to Utah, Edmund remained behind in Iowa where he became associated with Alpheus Cutler and his Church of Christ movement.
