Joseph W. Dyson (1889-1965) was a Southern Methodist missionary and educator at Soochow University, in Taipei, Taiwan, from 1919 until 1949, and 1959-1965.

Joseph W. Dyson (1889-1965) was a graduate of Central College, Fayette, Missouri. In 1919 he was sent as a missionary teacher to Soochow University, Taipei, Taiwan (Formosa), supported by the Southern Methodist Church. In 1959, then retired, he was sent by the Board of Missions, Methodist Church, to Soochow University as head of the English Department. The papers consist of personal and official letters, reports, and mementos relating to Dyson's service at Soochow from 1959-1965.
